Miami, Florida (CNN) -- The Atlantic gained a second hurricane overnight as Tropical Storm Julia strengthened into a Category 1 storm, the National Hurricane Center reported.
Julia joins Hurricane Igor, which weakened early Tuesday, but still maintained its status as a powerful Category 4 storm as it churned far from land.
